The Math Behind The Meme
Every time you add a new "must-have" trait to your dating filter, you aren't just subtracting a few people. You are recursively shrinking an already small slice of the pie. Demanding three relatively common traits simultaneously makes the combination exceptionally rare.
One of the most common filters on dating apps is a height requirement of 6'0". The average height of an adult US male is 5'9". Because height is a normal statistical distribution (a bell curve), asking for 6'0" eliminates nearly 85% of men immediately, before even filtering for age or income.
If you want a coin to land on heads, it's a 50% chance. If you want it to land on heads three times in a row, it's 12.5% (0.5 * 0.5 * 0.5). Dating math works the same way. If you want a guy over 6 feet (15%) who earns over $100k (20%), your chance just dropped to 3%.
