Our discount percentage calculator uses fundamental pricing formulas to calculate discounts, final prices, and savings. The calculation applies percentage math to determine exactly how much you save and what you'll pay, with multiple calculation modes for different shopping scenarios.
Discount % = (Discount Amount ÷ Original Price) × 100Final Price = Original Price × (1 - Discount % ÷ 100)Discount Amount = Original Price × (Discount % ÷ 100)Original Price = Final Price ÷ (1 - Discount % ÷ 100)These fundamental formulas calculate all aspects of discounts. The calculator supports multiple modes: calculate final price from discount percentage, find discount percentage from prices, reverse calculate original price, and analyze deal quality compared to category benchmarks.
Shows relationship between original price, discount, and final price
Discount percentages are calculated from the original higher price, which is why a 50% markup doesn't equal a 50% discount. Understanding this difference helps evaluate true savings. When stacking discounts, they apply sequentially (not additively), so 20% off then 10% off equals 28% total savings, not 30%. Our calculator shows scenarios for additional discounts, coupon stacking, and bulk purchases.
